CHAHAB // IRAN

Chahab was born in 1951 in Teheran (Iran). In 1974 he went to France to study. Chahab was educated in France from 1974 to 1982, decorative arts in Nice then sculptural art in Aix-en-Provence. From 1986 to 1990 Chahab studied sculpture and ceramics at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Since 1994 Chahab lives in France in the small town Nay at the foot of the Pyrenees. There he lives in an old flour mill that he changed into studios, gallery and an ”Artotheque '' in Dutch style.

Chahab has become known for his bright and intense colors due to the use of pure pigments in his paintings. He also makes graphics, color etchings, and sculpture in bronze and steel. His inspiration he finds in caveman paintings, in archaeological sites and in primitive art.
